I'd love to be able to give you that information, but I don't know it myself.
Josh is hoping to have a new version out during the coming week, that's all I can tell you.

If a new version is close to be released - then why not tell us what to expect ?

PT3 prompted me to get the new version.

So I did download the new one with POSTSQGRL to later read here I should do it without. Not much worked after that so I uninstalled and tried again.
I now get the postwindow where it says which port to connect and askes for a password. I have no idea what that might be. I am unable to connect without.

Yes, when upgrading PT3 you already have postgres installed, so there is no need to install it again (and as you've seen this will cause problems). [for other's benefit, more than your, sorry]

I'm not a postgres expert, so I won't try to untangle your double install as I'll likely get you to break something, but here are a few people on this forum who will be able to help you.
I suggest you start a new thread in the postreSQL forum please, rather than using this general Beta13 thread.

In your new thread...
Until the experts arrive, we can try and backup your database.
If you look at Task Manager / Processes, do you have any postgres.exe processes?
If not, try Start -> Programs -> Postgres -> Start service. Does it start? Are there any postgres.exe's now?
If so, postgres is running so we should be OK. Then you can backup your DB either using PGAdmin's backup/dump function, or see the command line way here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=8255

did you change your postgres passwords when you originally installed the rdms?

firstly, try dbpass and port 5432...

failing that, edit pg_hba.conf, scroll down to the bottom, and replace the encryption methods from md5 to trust.

All that has happened is that a new build of the same version has been released, with an extended expiry date. You can use either Build 2 or Beta 13, depending on whether you have problems in Build 2 that Beta 13 fixes. Just download and install either WITHOUT postgres.

What do I care about expiry dates? I already paid for the software! So I have to download a new version which is exactly the same as the old version that I already have... nice.
This blows chunks. Can I get my money back?

This had to be done so that the beta 13 version doesn't expire before the next one is released, hopefully some time this week.
It's not to do with expiry of licences, it's about expiry of beta versions, which are not intended to be used long term.

Hi,
i had a similar problem loading beta 13 like tommyhawk.
First of all, i´m neither an expert for software nor for english language :( .
i bought pt3 a few days before, loaded build 2 and decided after a short test to stick back to pt2 for a while. Then i came back 3 days ago and wanted to test beta 13.
So i downloaded beta 13 without!!! postgreSQL, like recommended in the forum. But i got the same result: during the installation process i was first asked for the registration code (ok, i´ve used the known one) then for a password :?: , which i wasn´t able to enter  (during the first process all runs automatically). I wondered a bit and then decided like tommyhawk to use the beta 13 with postgreSQL.
Then the trouble began with different errors during the installation, which i wasn´t able to solve. Finally i uninstalled both pt3 and postgreSQL, deleted all the pathes and started another download, so that i can open open pt3 now again (but haven´t tested yet if it works).

I hope that you can fix this problem for the future, by using pt2 i think i never had to enter a code or a password to load a new beta/version/patch. If my decision to delete pt3 and downlaod completetly new will have costed me a licence, i hope that you will be so kind and write it back to me. In practice i haven´t used pt3 so far and i don´t to to pay twice for a software which causes some problems at the moment ;) . But let me say at last, that i have bought pt3 despite of the problems you have, because i´m confident that pt3 will be a great product in the (not so far away  ) future like pt2 :D .
