Beta 3.07 housekeeping error message.

Postby Cooder » Mon May 10, 2010 1:16 pm

I updated to Beta 3.07 last night. Everything still seems to work OK, except after running a housekeeping on my played hands database I consistently get the following message:

“There were errors during the housekeeping process:

Unable to execute query: SELECT DISTINCT id_player FROM omaha_hand_player_statistics WHERE id_hand > ;; Reason: Fatal Error (ERROR: syntax error at or near ";" LINE 1: ...d_player FROM omaha_hand_player_statistics WHERE id_hand >;^)”

This does not happen with my observed hands database.

I haven’t played Omaha since before I upgraded to PT3, so I’ve not used the Omaha part of the program. I do have PTO installed and the Omaha hands in a separate directory.

I have restarted the program and the computer more than once.

Windows XP sp3.

Questions:

When the update completed there was a message I thought said I should update the cache. Could this have said rebuild instead?

Would doing a rebuild and/or reindex help?

Does rebuild/reindex work on just the selected DB, or all of them? (I’ll need to allow a lot of time if it works on all of them.)

Thanks.

A rebuild might help, a reindex shouldn't make a difference here. For all Housekeeping functions, they only run on the highlighted database(s).

Try a cache rebuild and if that doesn't work let me know.

The cache rebuild finished OK and I did not get an error message. But when I tried regular housekeeping I did get the same one again.

I experimented a bit. If I just do a vacuum/analyze there is no message. When I add a cache update it reappears.

Then please report this problem so that we can get this to the developers and figure out what is causing this error and get it fixed.

In pgAdmin please run these SQL statements on your database and see if that fixes your issue:

Code: Select all
DELETE FROM settings WHERE setting_name = 'cache_update:omaha';
INSERT INTO settings VALUES ('cache_update:omaha', '0');

I have basically zero experience with pgAdmin. I started the program, put in my password, and found the db in question. I copied the statements, but don't know where to go from there.

Once you have selected the database select from the menu: Tools > Query Tool (or click the 'SQL' icon in the toolbar) and paste the queries into the upper pane then do Query > Execute (or click the green 'play' icon in the toolbar).

OK - did that. Got the following in the messages tab:

"Query returned successfully: 1 rows affected, 187 ms execution time."

I pasted in both of the lines, but the response says one row - is that OK?

When I went to exit, it asked if I wanted to save the changes. I selected yes, saved to the desktop, and exited.

I then ran a housekeeping, and the error message still appeared at the end.

This problem did not happen with my other db when I first got the error message. I ran housekeeping on that db just now, and the problem occurs there as well. Odd.

EDIT: What version of PostgreSQL do you have? See Database > Database Management.
If it's 8.3.x but not 8.3.9 or 10 then you should update - Directions here.

Please do a ReIndex and a Rebuild Cache and see if that makes any difference.

If not, report your problem - your log files may give us more information about what is wrong.
Please post your ticket number here so that we can look into this ASAP.
