Beta 28 False Virus Notification

Postby Mist » Wed Jun 10, 2009 9:24 pm

Hi All,

You need to contact your Anti-Virus software company and have them update their virus definitions. We can assure you 100% that if you downloaded PokerTracker from http://www.pokertracker.com the software is virus free.

We added a new Anti-Piracy software to PokerTracker that makes the program more secure so hackers/crackers cannot break into the PokerTracker software.

In the meantime you may add an exception for the PokerTracker.exe until your Anti-Virus software company makes the necessary updates to their virus definitions.

This was quoted by Josh on the Beta 28 Release:
One thing we have changed with this release is our piracy prevention software. This new software should be more friendly on your CPU and shouldn't cause some of the compatibility problems we were having with the old software. Those of you using Avira AntiVir may get a virus notification. This is a false positive. The beta exe has been submitted to Avira in order for them to update their virus databases. Hopefully their next update will eliminate the false positive.

Best Regards,

Matt :D

Since Avira seems to be dragging their feet on this, and it will likely be a problem with every release we make, I recommend those of you using Avira AntiVir consider switching to a more accurate virus scanner. It will eliminate the headache of dealing with this with every release of PT3.
