iPoker Configuration Guide

PokerTracker 4 version 4.0.x
December 2, 2019
  • Overview

PokerTracker 4 imports text hand histories that are saved to your computer by the iPoker poker client. Once imported, these hands are stored within PostgreSQL and made available for review and analysis in your PT4 database. This process must be correctly configured so that PokerTracker 4 can retrieve these hand histories and also display the Heads Up Display (HUD) on your iPoker table(s) correctly in the Windows version of PokerTracker 4, iPoker does not have a Mac OS X client available at this time.

This guide is intended for users who wish to manually configure PokerTracker 4 to important hand histories from iPoker, alternatively you may choose to use the automated Setup Assistant. For general information on the initial setup of PokerTracker 4, please consult the PokerTracker 4 Quick Start Guide.

  • Setup Assistant

For most users, configuring iPoker by using the Setup Assistant will be the most efficient method of preparing PokerTracker 4 for use with iPoker. The Setup Assistant was created to help users automate the configuration of PokerTracker 4 without the need to manually configure your poker environment. To begin the Setup Assistant, simply click Tools > Setup Assistant from the main toolbar. Click the Configure Sites option and turn iPoker to Yes.

    Configuring iPoker Sites

There are a couple steps for configuring iPoker using the Setup Assistant.

    • Step 2: You must tell PokerTracker 4 where iPoker saves its hand histories. You can use the Auto Detect option to let PokerTracker 4 automatically find where the hand histories are being written. This can be also done manually by going to “Add” and pointing PT4 to the iPoker Hand History Folder on your computer.
    • Step 3: To assure proper HUD placement, you must tell PokerTracker 4 if iPoker places you in the bottom seat at each table.  If you use "Auto Center" on iPoker, make sure the button says “Yes” and push Next. (If you do not use "Auto Center", please turn this option to “No” and push Next).

    Auto Center Option iPoker Network

The final step gives you the option to import existing hand histories. It is recommended that you select yes, choose the database where you want PokerTracker 4 to import the existing hand histories, and then click OK

Tip: If you have a lot of hand histories saved in your iPoker folder, the import process may take some time. Please be patient and let PokerTracker 4 import all of your hands for optimal results.

  • Configuring iPoker
    • Hand Histories

You must configure the iPoker client to save hand histories to a designated directory on your hard drive.  This step is required to allow PokerTracker 4 to import the hand histories for the database and display the HUD.

To save your Hand Histories on iPoker, do the following:

      1. From the iPoker lobby, click on My Account -> Settings and go to the General section.

      2. Check Store Hand History Locally.

      3. Please note the default location where iPoker is saving your hand histories.
The default location is %appdata%\Local\<iPoker Client>\data\<Screenname>\History\Data
(where <iPoker Client> is the name of the iPoker client you have installed and <Screenname> is your screenname in the iPoker client)

    • Language

The iPoker client must be installed in the English language.  PokerTracker 4 currently only supports English and if the iPoker client is installed in another language it will cause problems.

If you have the client installed in another language you will need to uninstall it and reinstall using English.

    • Auto Center

You might choose to use the Auto Center option in your iPoker client (so that you are always placed in the bottom seat at every table). To configure this, do the following:

      1. From the iPoker lobby, click My Account > Settings and select the Table section

      2. Make sure Auto center my seat is enabled

      3. Enable Auto Center in PokerTracker 4's Site Configuration Client Options, which you can find at Configure > Sites & Import Options > iPoker

    • Enable Speed Poker Poker Hud

Users that play Speed Poker tables may need to manually configure PokerTracker 4. Speed Poker tables are not enabled by default. To manually configure Speed Poker tables click Configure -> Site & Import Options from the main menu and select iPoker Network (click here if you need help manually configuring your iPoker site). Make sure that the option Enable Speed Poker HUD is checked if you are playing Speed Poker tables and use a HUD. Click OK to save your settings.

      Enable Speed Poker Hud

With PokerTracker 4 configured correctly, you simply need to follow these steps to ensure your HUD is operational on Speed Poker tables. These steps must be followed exactly, otherwise your HUD will not work.

      1. Start PokerTracker 4
      2. Start iPoker and Login
      3. Click "Get Hands While Playing" in PokerTracker 4
      4. Join a Speed Poker table

Again, these steps must be followed for the HUD to work properly on Speed Poker tables. If you have any HUD issues, please close both PokerTracker 4 and iPoker and then start from step 1. Below are some final notes about Speed Poker tables and PokerTracker 4:

      • The Hud will start working after the first hand is IMPORTED (not played)
      • The default seat for players who do not have preferred seating enabled at Speed Poker tables is seat 3 for 6 max or seat 5 for 9 max tables.
      • For optimal results, please allow the importer to import any existing hand histories before playing Speed Poker tables to minimize the time it takes the HUD to begin working.
      • As always, make sure that neither iPoker nor PokerTracker 4 are open before updating the PT4 application. To be safe, it can be helpful to reboot your system before updating.
      • Some personal Firewalls may conflict with the Speed Poker HUD from operating, please see the Firewall Troubleshooting Guide for more information.
      • Speed Poker Hand Errors

Some players may receive "Invalid Stack/Pot Size" Errors when importing Speed Poker hands due to an error in the hand histories written while you play.  If you do, please do the following:

        • Within the iPoker software go to My Profile > Cash Table History

        • Use the options to view the appropriate session(s) and click to view a session where hands weren't imported correctly
        • In that window click Update Local Information and this will save the corrected hand history file(s) to your computer in the normal folder.

        update ipoker local hand histories

        • Within PT4 go to Play Poker and click Get Hands From Disk to import the corrected hand history file(s)
  • Manual Import Configuration for iPoker

PokerTracker 4 cannot import iPoker hand histories or display the Heads Up Display (HUD) in real-time while playing without prior configuration. You can easily do this by clicking Configure in the application menu, and then select Site & Import Options. View the Site Configuration tab and choose iPoker along the left side Poker Network list.

    Importing iPoker Hands Into PT4

Make sure Get Hands From Site While Playing is selected, or if you do not play on iPoker then you can select Hide Site From Lists to hide it from view. Next, click Auto Detect to populate the path of the iPoker Hand History Directories. Finally, tick "Auto Center" if applicable.

If you need more help, please consult the Importing Hand Histories tutorial for more information.

    • Time Zone

The iPoker Network does not use a unified clock, each skin writes hand histories to your computer using their own default time zone requirements.  iPoker does not provide a user configurable option to match your local time zone in the hand history, therefore to accurately match the time played to your local time you must alter the iPoker Skin/Time Zone setting within the iPoker Site Configuration in PokerTracker 4.  Select the skin you use when playing on iPoker, then click OK.

  • Mac OS X Compatability

iPoker does not have a macOS compatable client, but the macOS version of PokerTracker 4 can import hand histories from the Windows poker client for the convenience of our users who use both Windows and macOS.
