partypoker Configuration Guide

PokerTracker 4 version 4.0.x
May 11, 2020
  • Overview

PokerTracker 4 imports text hand histories that are saved to your computer by the partypoker poker client. Once imported, these hands are stored within PostgreSQL and made available for review and analysis in your PokerTracker 4 database. This process must be correctly configured so that PokerTracker 4 can retrieve these hand histories and also display the Heads Up Display (HUD) on your partypoker table(s) correctly.

This guide is intended for users who wish to manually configure PokerTracker 4 to important hand histories from partypoker, alternatively you may choose to use the automated Setup Assistant. For general information on the initial setup of PokerTracker 4, please consult the PokerTracker 4 Quick Start Guide.

PokerTracker uses the name "partypoker" to include all regional poker clients operated using the partypoker software client or its derivitives from bwin.party.

Note: In most regions the partypoker software no longer saves hand history files to your computer as you play, and in this case automated import and the HUD are not availble.
If this affects your regional party poker client see Downloading Hand Histories from 'My Game'.

  • Setup Assistant

For most users, configuring partypoker by using the Setup Assistant will be the most efficient method of preparing PokerTracker 4 for use while playing at partypoker. The Setup Assistant was created to help users automate the configuration of PokerTracker 4 without the need to manually configure your poker environment. To begin the Setup Assistant, simply click Tools > Setup Assistant from the main toolbar. Click the Configure Sites option and turn PartyGaming to Yes.

    Configuring Party Poker PT4

There are a couple steps for configuring partypoker using the Setup Assistant.

    • Step 2: You must tell PokerTracker 4 where party poker saves its hand histories. You can use the Auto Detect option to let PokerTracker 4 automatically find where the hand histories are being written. This can be also done manually by going to “Add” and pointing PT4 to the partypoker Hand History Folder on your computer. Once this is configured correctly, click Next.
    • Step 3: To assure proper HUD placement, you must also configure your seating preferences in PokerTracker 4 to match your seating preferences at partypoker. A preferred seat is the seat location you automatically sit at when you sit down at a table. PokerTracker 4 must know your preferred seat to ensure that the HUD correctly displays while you are playing. If you have a preferred seat at partypoker make sure the button says “Yes”. (If you do not, please turn this option to “No” and push Next) . When possible, PokerTracker will import the preferred seating selection for you at partypoker, if this cannot occur then simply push Change next to each table type and select the seat in the graphical interface where you automatically sit at while playing.

    Party Poker Preferred Seat

Simply push Change next to each table type and select the seat in the graphical interface where you automatically sit at while playing.  Once you have configured your seat preference for each table size correctly, click Next

The final step gives you the option to import existing hand histories. It is recommended that you select yes, choose the database where you want PokerTracker 4 to import the existing hand histories, and then click OK

Tip: If you have a lot of hand histories saved in your partypoker folder, the import process may take some time. Please be patient and let PokerTracker 4 import all of your hands for optimal results.

  • Configuring partypoker
    • Hand Histories

You must configure partypoker to save hand histories to a designated directory on your hard drive.  This step is required to allow PokerTracker 4 to import the hand histories for the database and display the HUD.

To save your Hand Histories at partypoker do the following:

      1. From the partypoker lobby, select on Options > Advanced.

      2. Ensure that hand history logs are being stored locally on the machine

      3. Click Save to save the settings.

    • Language

partypoker must be configured to use the English language.  PokerTracker 4 currently only supports English, if partypoker is installed in another language it will cause problems.

If partypoker is installed in another language you will need to uninstall it and reinstall using the English language.

    • Preferred Seating

You might choose to use the Preferred Seat option at partypoker so that you are always placed in the same seat location at every table. To configure this, do the following:

      1. From the partypoker lobby, select Options -> Advanced -> Table Options.

      2. Check the "Use preferred seating" checkbox.

      3. Select the table type(s) you play by clicking the number shown on the table.

      4. Click your preferred seat for each table type and then Save.

    • Mac OSX

PokerTracker will automatically detect the hand history folder if it is located in the default location

      • /Users/USERNAME/partypoker/HandHistory

When configuring PokerTracker 4 and partypoker on Mac OS X, please make sure that all tables are closed.  From the site configuration menu select partypoker > Preferences (the keyboard shortcut is [CMD + ,]) and click General.  Make sure that Store Hand History logs is checked and close the preferences window for your changes to take effect.  It is now safe to start playing.

If you play Sit & Gos, we recommend that Auto-email Sit & Go summaries is enabled, these summaries can be imported into PokerTarcker 4 using the Get Hands From Email import function.

    • Enable Fast Forward Poker Hud

Users that play at partypoker's fastforward tables may need to manually configure PokerTracker 4 because "fastforward" tables are not enabled by default, nor are they available in the Setup Assistant. To manually configure fastforward tables click Configure -> Site & Import Options from the main menu and select partypoker (click here if you need help manually configuring partypoker). Make sure that the option Enable fastforward HUD is checked if you are playing fasforward tables and use a HUD. Click OK to save your settings.

      party fast forward hud options

With PokerTracker 4 configured correctly, you simply need to follow these steps to ensure your HUD is operational at fastforward tables. These steps must be followed exactly, otherwise your HUD will not work.

      1. Start PokerTracker 4
      2. Start partypoker and log into your account
      3. Click "Get Hands While Playing" in PokerTracker 4
      4. Join a fastforward table and start playing

Again, these steps must be followed for the HUD to work properly on fastfoward tables. If you have any HUD issues, please close both PokerTracker 4 and partypoker and then start from step 1. Below are some final notes about fastforward tables and PokerTracker 4:

      • The Hud will not work until after the first hand is IMPORTED (not played)
      • The default seat for players who do not have preferred seating enabled at fastforward tables is seat 3 for 6 max or seat 5 for 9 max tables.
      • For optimal results, please allow the importer to import any existing hand histories before playing fastforward tables to minimize the time it takes the HUD to begin working.
      • As always, make sure that neither partypoker nor PokerTracker 4 are open before updating the PT4 application. To be safe, it can be helpful to reboot your system before updating.
      • Some personal Firewalls may conflict with the fastforward HUD from operating, please see the Firewall Troubleshooting Guide for more information. At the time that this guide was written the Comodo Firewall is not compatible, we recommend you replace Comodo with a different firewall option if you intend to play at partypoker's fastforward tables.

NOTE:  The HUD at fastforward tables is not supported in the OS X version of PokerTracker 4.

  • Manual Import Configuration at partypoker

PokerTracker 4 cannot import partypoker hand histories or display the Heads Up Display (HUD) in real-time while playing without prior configuration. You can easily do this by clicking Configure in the application menu, and then select Site & Import Options. View the Site Configuration tab and choose partypoker along the left side Poker Network list.

    Importing Party Poker Hands PT4

Make sure Get Hands From Site While Playing is selected, or if you do not play at partypoker then you can select Hide Site From Lists to hide it from view. Next, click Auto Detect to populate the path of the partypoker Hand History Directories. Finally set up your preferred seating if applicable.

If you need more help, please consult the Importing Hand Histories tutorial for more information.

  • Downloading Hand Histories from 'My Game'

In most cases the partypoker software no longer saves hand history files to your computer as you play.
If this affects you then you can download your hand histories using the 'My Game' partypoker website and import them into PokerTracker 4 manually.

To download hand histories from 'My Game' follow these steps:

    1. In the partypoker lobby click on your name to open the menu, and choose 'My Game'.
    2. This will open a web page.  On that web page click Export Hands at the top.
    3. Enter the date range that you wish to download hand histories for and click the 'Download' button.
    4. Select 'Save File', and click OK.
This will download the file to wherever your browser normally downloads files to.

Once you have the hand history file saved on your computer you can import it into PokerTracker 4.
In PokerTracker 4 go to the Play Poker tab and click Get Hands From Disk.  Choose 'Select Files' and browse to the downloaded hand history file.

These hand histories downloaded from My Game are anonymized, so your own name will be shown as 'Hero' and your opponents will all have 'PlayerX' names.

If you want to combine your own data from these hands with your previous partypoker hands under your screenname then you can link the 'Hero' player as an alias.  Guide: Aliases
