Does PT3 still require multiple DBs for large amts of hands?

Postby madskills » Tue Aug 04, 2009 6:33 pm

Original PT3 user, switched to HEM bc I didnt like having to have multiple DBs. Is this still the way ppl are dealing with v large DB sizes for PT3 or has there been a "fix"

Thanks.

Hi -

To be honest I'm not sure if you're talking about being an original Pokertracker2 user or Pokertracker3 user. PokerTracker3 was designed from the start to handle millions of hands in a single database. Or to create multiple databases with millions of hands in each. I don't know if Holdem Manager can have more than one database but I like just having the choice.

Some may want to keep all their own hands and datamined hands in a single database but some like me prefer multiple databases (it avoids clutter, no purging or wasting disc space on obsolete data - I throw them away and start news ones when I need to). Either way is fine with PokerTracker3.

If you initially meant you were a PokerTracker2 user you might want to try the PokerTracker3 trial and test it for yourself: Pokertracker3 downloads (you can download either "build 5.1" on that page).

If you used PT3 when it first came out then it is MUCH more efficient now and you should not have any issues having a larger, single database. Make sure that you download the latest version which is 3.00 Build 5.1
