FAQ: Rush Hud Performance Tuning

Postby tarix » Tue Feb 09, 2010 10:22 pm

Although this thread focuses on tuning for Rush Hud almost all of these steps are applicable to the regular Hud as well.

Basic Rush Hud Troubleshooting:

You must be running the latest Beta. The current version is Beta 30.5.

Rush hands are not importing correctly:
1) Check your FullTilt Configuration

Rush Hud does not appear on my table:
1) Make sure you Check "Enable Rush Hud" in the Full Tilt Configuration under the Auto Import tab.

Rush Hud Performance Problems
1) Turn off the Full Tilt Memory Grabber. Full Tilt has made this functionality obsolete.
2) Upgrade PostgreSQL to version 8.3.9
3) This will require a reindex. Click the cache status button and check everything including Reindex.
4) Make sure your cache is up-to-date. The older your computer and the more tables you play the more important this becomes.
5) Tune your PostgreSQL to your computer. The defaults do not take advantage of your computer's power.

NOTE: We are no longer recommending and have never required a Rush-only database. This suggestion was only a troubleshooting step and reflecting the fact that all databases used need to be cached frequently. The whole cache issue is our top priority right now.

Rush Technology FAQ:

Can I play stacked, cascaded, or tiled?
Yes, we have tested with all the available options that Full Tilt allows. We also tested it with TableNinjaFTP.

Is it against the Full Tilt Poker Terms of Service to use a Hud with Rush Poker?
No, please see this 2+2 post, answer #29, for an official answer.

Are you using screen scraping technology?
No, it was dismissed during the design process as being too slow and error prone.

Does this new technology work with regular Full Tilt tables?
Not at this time. We are planning expanding the technology to regular tables.

Do my tables need to be a particular size to work?
No, we have tested from the minimum size to the maximum size with no issues.

How many tables of Rush can I play?
We have tested up to 8 tables. Anything more was than that is beyond my mouse and multi-tabling skills. If you can beat that let us know!

Can I put my tables on a second monitor?
Yes, you can even put them off screen if you'd like.

In the previous thread, one of your staff wrote the following:

Advanced optimizations:

1) Edit your postgres.conf (PostgreSQL 8.3 -> Configuration Files -> Edit postgres.conf) to these values:

1GB machines:

Code: Select all
work_mem = 16MB
shared_buffers = 128MB
logging_collector = off

2GB machines:

Code: Select all
work_mem = 32MB
shared_buffers = 256MB
logging_collector = off

4GB machines:

Code: Select all
work_mem = 32MB
shared_buffers = 512MB
logging_collector = off

I cannot find the "Configuration Files" folder. My "8.3" directory has bin, data, doc, lib, pgadmin, share, and stackbuilder folders. Where should I go?

Found it, thanks. However, it won't let me make changes to the file. When I try, i receive the message "cannot create the file. make sure that the path and file name are correct."

Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right click Notepad and click Run as Administrator. Open postgresql.conf in that version of Notepad once you've got it running (you'll have to select All Files from the drop down at the bottom since the file extension isn't txt).
