PT3 will interact with other applications during the auto-import process. It is [bjpl]not possible[/bjpl] to do this without administrative rights. Therefore, PT3 will always require admin rights to run. Most applications are self contained, whereas PT3 interacts with many other applications. It's just not possible.

ok, i thought all auto import did was check for new hand history files in given folders, i think thats how it worked in pt2...

It might work that way for some sites, but others, it can't, such as Ultimate Bet. Also, the HUD will need to manipulate the table windows, so the auto-import isn't the only thing that needs admin rights.

As Josh mentioned, most software is self contained and should adhere to Vista's standards. However, PokerTracker is not and some of the techniques that need to be used are simply not possible to do without administrative privileges. It is not poor design, laziness, an unwillingness to follow the standards, or anything else.
