"Sounds like Postgres isn't running, try Start - > Programs -> Postgres -> Start Service."

This sounds like the answer to my problem (no database found) but I don't know how to do the above.

It sounds like it relates to the following pink text below but it is beyond my software knowledge:

Supported Operating Systems
PostgreSQL may be installed on Windows 2000, XP, 2003 and Vista. At the time of writing it has not yet been tested on 64 bit versions of Windows. PostgreSQL will not run on Windows 95, 98 and ME. Please note that whilst PostgreSQL will run on a server running Terminal Services, it must be installed from the system console.

Supported Filesystems
PostgreSQL’s data directory must be installed on an NTFS filesystem to minimise the possibility of data loss in the event of a power failure or similar problem. FAT filesystems may not be used as they cannot provide either protection against corruption, or any security features. The software itself may be installed on any partition type.

Installation as a Service
In order to start PostgreSQL automatically at boot time, it must be installed as a Windows Service. A wrapper program is used to control the postmaster from the Services control panel applet, or using net start/stop from the command line. In addition, the normal PostgreSQL control program, pg_ctl may be used to start or stop the service, as well as request it to reload it’s configuration files (or, for those familiar with Unix, send it a SIGHUP).

You will be given options to install PostgreSQL as a service later in the installation process. The installer can create a special user account to run the service under, or you may use an existing non-administrative account. This account must have read permissions on all directories leading up to the installation directory from the root of the installed drive. The installer will set the correct permissions on the installation directory and below automatically.

Installation as a Program
If you do not wish to install PostgreSQL as a service, it may be installed as an application for manual startup and shutdown. You will need to use the pg_ctl program to start and stop PostgreSQL as required.

OK. After some hunting I figured that part out, but it was nothing like what everyone was showing. PostgreSQL is running supposedly, but it still says:

Unable to begin feeder import process. Reason: Unable to login to database (PT3 DB). Reason: FATAL: database "PT3 DB" does not exist

I haven't created another database, but I pushed some of the buttons that says Set Active and Set Default while trying to get the database recognized. Is the original database gone? What if I just create a new database? Can I just switch all of the previous data over?

At this point, I can't use Poker Tracker at all.

Very Frustrated!

Okay, now I restored my computer to the evening before I put in the registration key and put it in again. Nothing has changed except that have a different error regarding the port and connection and nothing will work again.

Will reinstall all the PokerTracker and postgreSQL stuff because it's not working anyway.

I am sorry I didn't see this until now, but I don't think I knew the answer until just recently. This is what happened:

It looks like you uninstalled postgresql and then reinstalled it again. The error message is saying this, "I have the right username and password for the database server, but when I asked for the database named "PT3 DB" the database server told me it doesn't exist."

The easiest solution here is to just uninstall pt3 ONLY, then reinstall pt3 ONLY.

Lucy, PLEASE reply to your previous posts / topics rather than creating a new one every time, it makes it really difficult to look back through previous discussion and see what has already been tried/done/fixed.

Please?

Sorry, I've rarely ever done this forum stuff, and was confused as to what my problem actually was. Each time I figured out it was something else, I started a new post re that subject. So all of this goes in one post then and I just keep replying on the one? Will do so from now on until told otherwise. Also, I don't understand the difference between this and the PostgreSQL one... Which should I, or should I have been, posting to?

Can I use the trial version while I work on the registered one. I miss the HUD and have yet to be able to work with the data (which was the purpose of this expenditure of $ and large amounts of time). I would hate to have to choose between them!

Sorry Again (I'm just SOOOOO frustrated!),

Also, how do I find my own posts in order to reply to them? And I realize this will be easier with less of them.

Thanks!

No problem.
Let's just keep it in here while you have installation problems. Once you get everything running, if you come across other issues please feel free to start new topics.

Firstly, there is a "View your posts" link at the top of every forum page.
You are free to use either Build 2 or Beta 12, whichever works best for you.

Did Prajna's suggestion help?

Actually, I've done probably 100 different things since then. But likely I will need her feedback as I circle around again with more difficulties.

Here is what I've done since:

Uninstalled:

Avast
Spamfighter
Spyware Terminator
PC Pitstop
Driver Guide
Undelete Plus
and a whole pile of programs supposedly not used since 2003, 2004 and 2005

Just disabled Mozilla/Firefox NoScript before I downloaded and installed the Poker Trackers. Forgot to uninstall until now. I also had Pokerstars running during download and install. Could that cause problems?

Cleaned Out Remnants Found of:

SuperAdBlocker
Spybot
AdAware
AVG

AND:

Cleaned Out Prefetch Folder
Ran Hijack This! and threw away stuff I didn't need
Cleaned out computer files - cookies, temp Internet files, etc.
Fixed Registry Errors
Ran a System Restore to day before yesterday
Optimized Memory
Ran "Look to Me" program for a specific virus/bot that came back
Installed printscreen software so I can print the screen of everything that I have questions for and post them on computer boards
Probably some other stuff I can't remember, too

[b]And created logs for both the PokerTracker 3 Build 12 and PokerTracker 3 Build 2 , which I will send a ticket in for/b]

Tonight I Will:

Run the wonderful Kaspersky Online Scan (want to buy this for auto nightly scans)
Defragment
Run CheckDisk
Run Windows File Checker
Create another Hijack This! log, as well as screen print of start up menu, processes and unknown programs and other files to post on computer help boards
Possibly install 2 programs that supposedly increase the speed of the computer and registry itself.

The computer runs much faster and the Build 2 works better but still crashes when I try to get it to populate with the refresh button or sometimes it just crashes when I hit the Hold'em Tab as it tries to populate.

Anything else you can think of that I might do would be appreciated! I will try to uninstall the Build 2 and install the trial version to work on my data (is there a way to save my changes to the HUD info?), but would love not to having to do that again and again as well as have the extras I saw that I still can't access. What does autofill do? Do you still have to fill in your place and $ won etc? I have a ton of them to fill in. Should I wait if the program will do it or, if it will, will it go back and get older stuff, as far back as PokerStars has the info I guess... Also, can I transfer the tournaments that I had sent from PokerStars into the hand history file?

Sorry for the length and the million questions.

Thanks!

Naughty Lucy

Auto fill : Tournaments FAQ
As I said in your other thread, you don't need to uninstall, just install over the top, and why do you need to change versions?
