no, i'm leaving all the default info and using the pass the made when i first downloaded and installed postgres for PT2. What i was trying to convey was the fact that i already have postgres with PT2, would that affect the use of PT3?

In PT2, go to Utilities -> PostgreSQL Settings. Check the port, server, and user name to make sure they are exactly what you are using in PT3. If they are the same, then chances are you are using the wrong password.

There is no easy way to recover the password. I suggest just removing the password requirement from PostgreSQL.

Start->Program Files->PostgreSQL->8.2->Configuration Files->Edit pg_hba.conf

At the bottom of the file, change the method from "md5" to "trust". File->Save. Restart the PostgreSQL service (or reboot your computer).

On restart, PostgreSQL should not require a password.

Best regards,

Use Windows Explorer to browse to that directory and see if that file exists.

Are you running under an Admin account? You may need to open the file with Admin privileges in order to save it.
