Change it to the port of your other installation (try 5433 first), then click Browse and it will look on that port for databases. If it finds any you can click on them and click OK then Connect and PT4 will attach to them.

how do I find the port of my other installation? I tried 5430-5435, none of them worked. I appreciate your help with all of this, still very puzzled why everything worked fine one day and then suddenly nothing works the next.

Unable to login to database (template1). Reason: could not connect to server: No such file or directory Is the server running locally and accepting connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5433"?

Look in the postgres.conf file for the other installation - you can open it in a text editor - it will tell you the port in a line (that starts "port =") -- it's near the top of the file.

That file is in /Library/PostgreSQL/9.0/data
(or whatever version you're looking for)
Note: NOT ~/library.

To access the data folder you will need to follow the directions in this tutorial to enable permissions for the data folder - be sure to revert the process once you're done.
