Please do double check that file wasn't changed back for some reason. Once that's successfully changed what you put in for the password shouldn't matter and you should never get that error.

ok that worked, not sure why but the values had been changed back to md5. now PT4 opens fine, but when it opens I get a popup asking me to Select Default Database that says "Error connecting to the default database. Please select one of the valid databases below or create one. Note: It may take time for the database list to fully populate." There is only one database to choose from in the list (the Default/Active database) but it is grayed out and I can't click it. I waited 30 minutes before posting in this in the hope that something would change, but no dice. The only other option is to create a New DB, which I don't particularly want to do. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

Click New, then click the blue Browse link and that will show the available databases. Choose one and click Connect to reattach it to PokerTracker.

Do you have more than one PostgreSQL installation on your computer? That means there's no databases found in the PostgreSQL installation you're connected to. Is it possible you have another version installed on a different port?

yes I have both PostgreSQL 8.4 and 9.0. Should I uninstall one of them, or what's the easiest way to get PT to recognize my DBs?

Well, you probably want to change the port in PokerTracker to use the one that has your other database -- that's probably what got changed somehow.

When you click New in these directions:

..you can specify the port you want to use.

When I click "New" a box titled "Configure PostgreSQL Database" pops up. It currently says Port: 5432. What should I change this number to? Once I change the number am I supposed to click "create" even though I don't want to create a new database?
