Optimal ver of PostgreSQL for PT2,3,4?

Postby JimmyM69 » Sun Feb 24, 2013 8:40 am

I shall be taking delivery of a new PC shortly, and have databases in all 3 vers of PT. The new PC will have a 120GB SSD, which I will partition into 2 Drives, C for the OS & apps, and D for Data. PostgreSQL 8.3 is installed on my current PC, in D:\Poker Stuff\PostGreSQL, and my databases total some 38GB in size.
I hope to replicate this structure on the new PC, and ask which ver of PostgreSQL would be optimal for all 3 types of PT?
TIA for help,
Jimmy

I can't say for sure what version of PostgreSQL will work best for PT2 at this point in time. Honestly, using whatever did work (the latest 8.2 version perhaps?) might be best there. For PT3 and PT4 the latest version of PostgreSQL 9.0 for 64 bit machines will work best in both cases.

Thanx quick reply - I'll use ver 9.0, and see if it runs the PT2 dbs. If not, can I install both vers of PostgreSQL?
TIA

Yep, just make sure you have them set to different ports (you can set that at install time and just tell PT which port to use).
