I have turned firewall off, so there shouldn't be a problem there.
However when i try accessing windows firewall with advanced security i get an error msg: "The Windows Firewall with Advanced Sevurity snap-in failed to load. Restart the Windows Firewall service on the computer that you are managing. Error code: 0x6D9." I also get an error msg trying to use recommended settings for firewall: "Windows Firewall can't change some of your setting. Error code 0x80070424."

That doesn't bode well. Try running Windows Update and restarting your computer and let me know if that helps any.

When trying to check for updates i get this error msg: "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running..."
Did some searching and one possible solution was to start and update windows defender (that was set to "service has stopped"), but then: "The specified service does not exist as an installed service. (Error Code: 0x80070424).
It seems like i am at shallow waters here.. or?

I can't seem to find Windows defender or microsoft me security essentials at SERVICES.msc.
Could it be that malwarebytes is the reason why it is disabled, and therefore everything is in order? But then again, why can't I configure the firewall..

I think the service being referenced is Windows Update - if you don't see it in that list, you can download and install it here.

I'm running windows ultimate 7, 64bit, service pack 1.
I should download WindowsServer2003-KB942288-v4-x64.exe, right?
I get the error: "not enough storage..." even tho i have 231gb on C and 32gb on D to go.

For Win7 actually try this fix first. It's easier and may just do the trick.

What happens if you run Start -> All Programs -> Windows Update?
