How to export/import notes on player ?

Postby MOST83 » Wed Jan 27, 2010 6:43 am

I have a PC home and a laptop. I know how to import hands to keep my 2 computers with the same database.

But now, i want to know if it's possible to do the same with the note editor, to have on both computer my notes for all the players i meet.

Beta 30.1 introduces a new Backup/Restore mechanism which will allow you to backup the notes from a database and then restore them to another database (on the same machine or another).
However, if you haven't already updated to Beta 30.1 I would suggest waiting for Beta 30.2 as there are some significant changes in Beta 30.1 which have a few teething problems. This should be out within a few days.
The new Backup/Restore mechanism can be accessed via the File menu or the Database Manamgent window.

Well, i have updated to the last beta version and i don't think the import/ export is working.
I have generated a xml doc called"PTnotes" in a aggregated folio but what i need to do with?

I just want to know wich files i need to copy to a computer from an another one to have my buddies list AND the player's note i have taken, on both computer ?

Copy the entire zipped folder (or aggregated folio) to the other computer, then click File --> Restore in PT3 on that computer, and choose the zipped folder and PT3 will do the rest.

Ok i have some good news and some bad news ;)

Good news the export/import seems to work BUT i still don't have the notes on the players.

What i did : Backup : Buddies / Aggregated notes/ Aggregated filters. Everything else was uncheck.

I do the restore, and i have the buddies working (buddy box was check But not the icon like fishy)
But the player's note wasn't here. Do i need to something else in my backup for the notes?

When you do the restore you need to tick the database where the notes are (but untick backup databases). When you restore the notes will be restored to the Active database.

Still not working.

I have tick the database/buddies/agreggated notes on a backup.

I did the restore and no player's note. Really annoying.

Do u have a cut/paste solution ? i take the player's note file on my main PC and i paste it on my laptop ?

Notes are stored in the database, so there is no single file to copy.
I'll do some testing and get back to you.
In the meantime, please create a Support ticket and report your problem so that we can keep track of it. Please PM me your ticket number once you've set it up.

I just tested this and it works fine for me.

BACKUP

- Set database A active.
- Make a note on a player (e.g. on the Cash Games > General tab by clicking Edit in the Notes section).
- File > Backup.
- Tick database A on the left, the database with the notes you want to transfer.
- Enable the "Aggregated Notes" option and ucheck all the other options.
- Click "Backup Now", choose a filename and note where you save it.
- Copy the file to your other computer, or save it on the network, or whatever.

RESTORE

- Set database B, where you want to copy the notes to as Active.
- File > Restore
- Select your backup file.you saved
- Aggregated Notes option should be enabled, with everything else greyed out (if notes was the only thing you saved).
- Click Restore Now.
- Click "Yes" to the "Merge aggreaged notes into active database?" prompt.
- Check the Status window to see if it worked.
- Click Close.
- Click Refresh.
- View the player you added the note to and you should see your note.

I just did exactly that..
