Trouble with hand histories on network drives

Postby BatsShadow » Tue Jan 31, 2012 7:05 pm

I'm using a VMware Fusion to test the beta. For years, I have kept all my hand history files on the parent computer and accessed them with a mapped network drive Z: For some reason, that drive doesn't show up in any of the PT4 dialogs, even though I can see it in Windows Explorer. I usually use a network drive, both for initial import and for storing the moved files.

I can work around the problem for now and start beta testing by manually moving files to the VM, but it is not ideal. Is there something wrong with my VM, or is this a PT4 issue? Should I submit a bug report?

When I run PT4 in a VM using VMWare I can see mapped network drives - can you give us a bit more information so that we can understand the differences with what you have set up, and which dialogs you're using?

I used the VMWare Shared Folders feature, and it automatically mapped to Z:\

Here is what I see on my desktop and in Windows Explorer (this is all inside the VM)

And here is what I see in PT4 in the Configure Import prefs

As you can see, no Z:\ drive shows in this dialog, and it is also missing from the Get Hands From Disk dialog.

Hi,

I know this is an old topic but I am having the very same issue. Has this ever been resolved? This is on a Windows VM with QEMU

You should avoid using mapped network drives in auto import configurations.
Instead you should configure the full network path, like:
\\Computer\shared folder path

A mapped network drive won't give timely notifications so won't work correctly.
