Hi all,
I'm the founder of OneBillionHands.com; our segments were recently featured on the live broadcast of the 2013 WSOP Main Event final table. (Check out the 2:30 mark here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... 2TjlE#t=90)
We're considering using our massive research database (see: http://www.OneBillionHands.com/Our-Data/) to build an opponent range tool: you'll select a decision from a hand in your PokerTracker database, and we'll show you the typical opponent's range at the time of your decision. I'm hoping this thread will provide a better understanding of the market for this tool.
Below I briefly cover the how-and-why of the tool, and then present my ideas about who might use it.
** How and Why **
Each time a decision is selected, we'll find similar situations in our research database, and provide a breakdown of the opponents' empirical holdings in those situations. (The last part is easy - our research database contains opponents' hole cards).
The intent is to provide real data, from real players, who were playing for real money. We're explicitly trying to avoid range analysis based on major assumptions, "expert" opinion, or opaque math.
** Who Might Use It? **
(1) Players who frequently play with unknown opponents
Our thinking is that if you don't know much about an opponent, the best information to arm yourself with is a deep understanding of average ranges.
(2) Players who want to check their intuitions against empirical data
Ever run into an unexpected hand and thought "that *had* to be the top of his range"? Now you can check, and adjust your intuitions accordingly.
(3) Players who are just dying to know what their opponent had
Many new(er) players still have the "just want to know" bug. This tool could help satisfy that curiosity, and in the process help a new player learn how to think in ranges.
(4) Players who play primarily lower stakes (big blind less than or equal to $1), and primarily cash
This is just where the bulk of our data is. More data --> better output for the tool.

We would *love* to hear your opinions on this tool, as your feedback will help us decide if there is a market for our idea. Please share your opinion!
