Once Again, PT4 completely frozen.

Postby jdell408 » Tue Jul 08, 2014 7:31 pm

This problem has been plaguing me for about 6 months. I was using a toshiba i7 laptop with 8 gigs of ram on windows 8 when this problem started. The moment I click on "get hands while playing" PT4 starts to import about 20-50 duplicate hands then freezes completely. It is completely useless beyond this point. I had a technician do a remote session with me where we went through every database housekeeping option multiple times. Eventually, he could not figure out what was wrong and said that the new update was going to be very large and would probably fix the issue. Long story short, the update did nothing and the problem continued.

Being completely frustrated I purchased a new computer. I am now using a Dell i7 with 8 gigs of ram and a fresh install of PT4. It worked fine for around 1 month.

After one month, the exact same problem has returned rendering PT4 totally useless to me. I cannot even start using the program. It simply freezes after downloading 20-40 duplicate hands. I have tuned Postgres, re-clustered, re-indexed and tried everything possible.

I would like another remote session with specialist to try to fix this. I will submit yet another ticket (number 4) and hopefully someone can get back to me.

You need to clear the duplicate hands - there are likely more than the 20-40 it is reporting, I have found somewhere in the region of a few hundred HH files almost guarantee lockup.

The procedure for this can be annoying - "play poker", switch to "view import status" tab, "start getting hands". Let it freeze. read the location it is finding duplicates from - it will give you the exact folder path in the import status messages. Task manager -> end task PT4, go to that folder location, and cut/paste the HH files found there to somewhere else (new folder in my documents or whatever).

Repeat procedure until all duplicates are clear.

Play poker -> get hands from disk, point it to the place you moved all the dupes to. This will ensure no hands were missed by the lockups.

If the problem is too many existing hand history files then the easiest way to clear that is to run Tools > Setup Assistant and go through the site configuration - this will import and move the existing hands.

If that doesn't help please do open a Support Ticket and report your problem - we'll need to see your log file to see what is going on.
