Database Maintenance

Postby Abkm » Fri Aug 15, 2014 8:24 am

Hi,

I would like to take care of my DB so I decide to do housekeeping. I am not going to start before know following things.
I think my DB works very-very slowly.
81 GB and take a long time to appear any HUD when i play or when I replay my HH as well.
What would be the best solution If I want to make it faster?
I use 4.10.9 (I am not going to upgrade) and 8.4.19 PostgreSQL.

Rebuilt cache?
Housekeeping - Reindex?
Housekeeping - Tune PostgreSQL?

or which process?

And I also would like to know how long are these going to take? I play every day and I cannot afford to run any of process longer than 10-12 hours.

Thanks a lot

For you, Cluster is probably best. But all of your reasons for not upgrading go out the window once you're willing to take this amount of time. The time spent upgrading the database is going to be at least as long as doing this now. If you're on a normal hard drive (and not an SSD) I would expect this to take longer than 10-12 hours.
