Using Horizontal Separator Line for Better HUD Orientation

Postby TIGANCIC » Thu Feb 20, 2025 12:40 pm

Hi!
I came up with an idea to use horizontal separator lines in the HUD for better visual orientation.
Here's the idea:
Place a horizontal separator line under each group of stats.
Assign each line a color that matches the HUD background.
My HUD is divided into different effective stack sizes.
When the effective stack reaches a certain range, the color of the lines under these stats changes.
This way, it will be easier to navigate the HUD and instantly see which stats correspond to a specific stack size.

Will this work correctly? Has anyone tried a similar setup?
Thanks!

I don't know of a method to achieve that. Effective stacks are per player, defined as of each players first action and the data is imported after a hand is finished so that data isn't going to be available when a hand starts.

Hi again and thanks for the answers so far!

As a follow-up to my previous question: I understand that real-time effective stack data is not available, and that dynamic HUD changes are limited.

But I’d still like to clarify something:

What I want is to place horizontal lines in my HUD layout that are always present, but normally have the same color as the HUD background — so they’re invisible.
Then, based on the effective stack size from the previous hand, I’d like the line to change color (to red, green, etc.) — just to highlight a stat area visually.

I'm not trying to group or filter stats — I only want a simple line that changes color depending on previous-hand effective stack data.

So my question is: Is there any way to simulate this "color-switching" behavior using layout options, custom stat values, or maybe transparent images?

I don't know of a method to achieve that and the data might not even be relevant. Effective stacks are per player and are only defined as of each players first action. In other words it's the maximum amount a player could lose in a pot as of their first action in the hand. This means that the effective stack of a previous hand may not be relevant/close to the current hand. For example a players effective stack could have been 10bb for the previous hand and end up at 100bb for the current hand. What you can do is color a custom statistic based on a players actual stack size for the current hand by creating color conditions that query the live table although if you play on PokerStars that functionality will be blocked due to their rules on stat coloring.

You're right, but this is useful in HU games Using Effective Stack.

I don't know what the OP plays.
