Confidence Intervals / Standard Deviation

Postby Archer1066 » Wed Jan 06, 2016 9:11 am

My biggest problem with using HUD's my ability to predict my opponent true mean. Is it possible to work out the standard deviation of each statistic in PT4 to calculate confidence intervals for statistics? Or even better is it possible to build custom statistics that can display 95CI's for selected statistics? Or even better again use Bayesian theory to link the confidence interval to the population of poker players from which they come from e.g (players with 10,000> and win-rate 0bb>)?

Thanks,

George

It is possible to work out standard deviation though you would definitely need to build custom statistics to do it. I suspect it would be possible to thematically link the CI using Bayesian Theory as well but that math is beyond what we can help you with here. Do you have a background in SQL? See this guide for the basics on custom statistics creation and this guide for a deeper walkthrough. The latter was written for PT3 but the techniques all apply to PT4, the interface is just slightly different.

Cheers krada,

I don't have a background in SQL just some statistics modules at university.

Thanks for the link, I'll invest sometime in learning custom stats.

BTW can you customise PT4 to display custom badges?

You can have stats that show images, but those will not function on PokerStars or Full Tilt due to their acceptable use policy. This post shows how to set an image based on a condition for a stat.
