NoteTracker Performance

Postby BillGatesIII » Wed May 16, 2012 7:52 pm

I'm trying to get an estimate of the hours PT4 needs to compose Auto Notes.

When I test all Active Cash Automatic Note Rule with 50 hands, the test result is:

Test Results for 'All Active Automatic Note Rules' ...
AutoNote: Hand #80495180409: Player: whoami Note: Raised flop with two pair, no draw & SPR >= 4
AutoNote: Hand #80395809589: Player: bpenno Note: Went all-in for 75-150bb with not ds {cardrange:AAQ8}
AutoNote: Hand #80395809589: Player: zombie Note: Went all-in for 75-150bb with not ds {cardrange:KQJT}
Total time: 5.66m Per Hand Avg: 6.80s

If the Total time for 50 hands is about 5.5m, is it correct to assume that for 1,5k hands the Total time will be around 275 hours?

NoteTracker generates notes in the background when PT4 isn't doing anything else, so the time it takes depends on what else is happening. Note generation doesn't interfere with other PT4 functions, so it won't affect performance.

I mean 150k hands...

After a night sleep, I decided to break down this performance issue.

The '126 - Raised with Bare Two Pair, No Draw & SPR >= 4' takes about 9ms per hand.
The '060 - Went All-in Range for >=100bb' takes about 7ms per hand.

But if I add this filter to number 060
Omaha Hi Hand Range: RANGE[SUITED:DBL-ANY-ANY]
the test takes about 1.13s (1130ms) per hand.

So it looks like adding a range filter to an auto note, slows down things a lot.

I know but I created new Auto Notes and let my computer run for 10 hours to process the hands (Tools - NoteTracker - Run) and it only did about 4%.

Without the Range filter notes it does about 6% in an hour.

NoteTracker only works with cash games, correct?

There are a lot of Omaha hands - I'm pretty certain if you did something more specific (like AAxx) it would not add nearly that much time.

But one thing to note: NoteTracker is always also taking notes while you are Getting Hands While Playing. Further, we get notes on the newest hands first and work backwards. This should help in getting your notes taken fairly painlessly if nothing else.

That said, we would definitely be happy if we could get that time down, and I'll talk to the developer who worked on those filters and see if there's anything we can do.

Ok. Thanks. Makes sense.

It would be great to get the suitedness for Omaha in {cardrange}. Maybe like AxAyTx9z, that would be very nice. Or else like the Hold'em {cardrange}, with rb, ss and ds. Of course with ss and ds you don't know which cards are suited but at the moment, there is nothing. I think it would make NoteTracker much more valuable for Omaha players.

I'll make a note of those requests - I don't know how easy it will be to do that but I can certainly see the appeal.

Can't change the setting "Purge Automatic Notes Older Than _____". Each time I change it to 365 days, it reverts back to 60 after I click "OK" at the bottom.

That box is not a continuous setting - if you set it and press the Purge button, PT4 will purge all notes older than whatever you have typed. 60 is just the default.
