You're doing it backwards - you want PostgreSQL installed in OS X and the configurations to be done there, then you connect to it via VMWare. You'll get much worse performance with it the way you have it set up now.

Don't think so. I've done the following:

Installing PT4 on both, OSX and WIN. And did the same with PostgreSQL - as I wanted to start playing Zoom.

In order to get one database (which should be placed on OSX), I did the configuration in the OSX files and tried to find the databases in my PT4 VMware installtion - where I didn't find the OSX databases.

So, what is your suggestion?

Or could you just post a step-by-step guide how to do this? Please?

After configuring the pg_hba.conf on the OS X side, you should use the IP address of the OS X side as the host in PT4 - the 192.168.212.1 address - and then you should be able to connect to those databases.

kraada,

could you be a bit more specific in your explanations, please? Where could i enter the address 192.168.212.1 as a host.

Again, I am sorry for asking basic questions. But - I am a poker player and no database admin.

In PT4 when you are trying to connect - that's where you specify a host. The default is localhost, and you want to replace that with the IP address in question - because you're not connecting to the VM (which is "localhost" in this case) but to the server (which is OS X for you).

Ok. First of all: It is sad that you are constantly refusing to just write a step-by-step guide.

Second: It's still not working. I get this error message:

Unable to create PostgreSQL database: PT4_OSX_MAC
Reason: This server is not responding to connection attempts. Please restart the PostgreSQL service, then PokerTracker and try again

You're looking ~/Library rather than /Library - the /Library folder is on the root of the hard drive, not in your home directory.
