Karada I am also having the same problem connecting to the server. By your previous direction this is what I got from typing the code into my terminal.
Thanks Mark

You are getting exactly the same error? Your terminal output is showing that PostgreSQL is running. Did you change the password at installation time? You may only need to change the password PT4 uses for your database.

sorry Kraada I did not answer your question. I have made no changes ever to my data base. I installed it with PT4 about 8 months ago and never had a problem until I opened it today?

Have you upgraded anything else recently? The database settings won't just change on their own.

No Kraada I have not played poker or opened PT4 for about 3 weeks. The only problem I have had is I had to re-start my Mac book after installing a Tax preparation software app. I tried using a different password when connecting to the postgres server and now I get this screen in which I can only select New . Can I delete all the postgres programs then install the newest version 9.4.5? I have backed up all my handhistories and PT4 files.

Thanks for the help Mark

First look in Applications -> Utilities -> Console for errors relating to PostgreSQL - do you see any there?

Ok, so PostgreSQL is trying to launch and failing. Now let's find out why.

Open a terminal window and run this command:

sudo pg_ctl -D /Library/PostgreSQL/9.3/data/

You should have to type in your password - you won't see *s, that's a security precaution. Type and hit enter and tell me what error it spits back at you.
