Kraada I updated my O/S to OS X EL Capitan version 10.11.1 today then launched PT4 and everything is working properly again. It doesn't look like I lost any information.

Thank you for all you help and fast responses to my questions

I am about to upgrade Macs. I've been on Mavericks for 2 years, skipped Yosemite and have been running PostgreSQL 9.0 for the past couple of years. Which version should I upgrade to, 9.3? Should I update before moving Macs? Should I update before I back up my databases to restore to the new computer? A little confused on the order I should do things. Thanks!

You don't need to upgrade PostgreSQL but if you want to then you need to make a backup of your database first, then uninstall the old PostgreSQL and install the new version, then restore your backup. 9.3 is the version we currently recommend.

Ok thanks. I haven't been having any problems, but since I'm moving to a new machine anyway, would it make sense to do the following:

Back up in 9.0
Install 9.3 on new computer
Install PT4 on new computer
Restore old 9.0 DBs to new computer

No need to uninstall 9.0 on old computer if I'm going to ultimately wipe the drive. All correct?

Yes that makes the most sense.

Now that I think of it, Migration Assistant will likely be moving everything from my old computer whether I like it or not. I guess that means I should uninstall 9.0 on the new machine once the migration is complete, then install 9.3. When you uninstall 9.0 are the databases deleted as well, or will I need to delete the old databases manually before restoring? Or should I delete them before uninstalling 9.0?

Make a backup no matter what before you start anything - it's safest!

Once you're done with PostgreSQL 9.0 and uninstall it you do need to delete the database folder manually. Our guides here have the details on how to do that.
