We don't recommend using PostgreSQL v13 as there are known issues and it hasn't been extensively tested with PokerTracker 4. If this is a new install with no existing data I recommend following
this tutorial and then manually downloading and installing PostgreSQL v9.6
from here. Using a Mac administrator account or administrative privileges install that PostgreSQL and for the password boxes use "dbpass" (no quotes) which is what PokerTracker 4 uses by default.
If on the other hand you have been using your existing PostgreSQL v13 and you have existing PokerTracker 4 data do this:
Open a terminal in "Utilities". In the terminal window copy/paste this:
sudo rm /Library/PostgreSQL/x.y/data/postmaster.pid
Substitute the "x.y" in that command with your PostgreSQL version (13, 13.0 or 13.1)
You want to delete "postmaster.pid" so answer "y" if the command finds it.
Next reboot, press/hold the "Alt/Option" key while starting PokerTracker 4 and click through any messages. Only start PokerTracker 4 once even if nothing appears.
If PokerTracker 4 still doesn't start attach these files to a
Support Ticket:
--> /Users/{Mac Login}/Library/Application Support/PokerTracker 4/Logs/PokerTracker4.log
--> The newest 3 or 4 PostgreSQL log files (look for "Mac" in the guide):
