Total Rake Calculation

Postby pto432 » Mon Oct 13, 2008 3:36 pm

Hi,

Can you please explain how the total rake is calculated? It seems very high to me and I'm wondering if it is (1) the total rake collected by the site for all players in the hands shown, (2) the portion of the rake collected by my player only, or (3) some other calculation.

Thanks for the clarification.

The Total Rake stat is on a few different tabs. Which one are you referring to?

I'm referring to the last column labeled "Total Rake" under the "General Info" tab.

This is the total rake paid by the player selected on the left in games that the player won. The number might be slightly high as the total rake is attributed to the winning player even in split pot situations.

Also, do the total winnings (or losses) shown by my player include the raked amount, or is the rake excluded from the calculation of wins, for instance?

The rake is taken out of total winnings and losses.

Another question to clarify my understanding of the rake calculation...

I'm assuming the following is the case, but please confirm if this is correct.

Session Win Example:
Player ABC plays a session and wins $100 over 500 hands with a rake of $5.

This means the player won $100 and if there were no rake would have won $105.

Session Loss Example:
Player ABC plays a session and loses $100 over 500 hands with a rake of $5.

This means the player lost $100, $5 of which was attributed to the rake. Therefore, the player lost $95 dollars to the opponent(s) and paid $5 in rake to the poker site.

Is this description accurate of how the rake actually works?

Thanks!

Correct.

Yes. I think my prior post was misleading. You only pay rake on hands you win, so in a 500 hand session where you won some hands where you paid a total of $5 rake and lost some other hands but netted a loss of 100, if there was no rake you would have only lost $95.
