DTB Restore - how long?

Postby Gooner933 » Thu Aug 07, 2014 10:26 am

Hi,
I am just retoring my pt4 dtb on a new hard drive. It is approx 1.5 gb in a compressed zip folder, but has been running for almost 18 hours. When I start task manager to check the PT4 CPU, it is running at 25.
Is this normal given the size of the file or what?
Thanks

That's an awfully large database -- text compresses extremely well. It needs to write probably 20-30G so it's going to take a while. Just let it keep running and it'll finish eventually.

However, now I am not sure if the restore has worked properly.
Things like my hud profiles have been transferred and when I click on File -> 'Open User Data Folder' there is plenty of stuff there including a large amount of processed hands.
However I cannot see evidence for any of this in the actual PT4. Like when I click on the 'view stats' tab for example - nothing happens. Do I need to somehow make this stuff 'active'?
Thanks

Click Database -> Database Management. Make sure the database you restored is Active (and Default if you want it to be used when you start up PT4) and then you should see your data. Do make sure you have the right player selected in the left hand sidebar and that you are in the right section ($ or T) without filters set.

hi, thanks for your reply.

Indeed when I go to database management the 'flags' column is 'default/ active'. However, the size is only 8mb which appears to consist of only what I have played since the restore and does not include the actual data that was supposed to be restored.
Yet bizarly, when I go to file -> open user data folder, there are 700mb of processed hands which have obviously somehow not found there way onto the dtb. should I manually process them ('get hands from disk') or should that already be done?

Thanks in advance

That's odd, it should definitely be more than 8M after doing all of that work. One thing to check - let's make sure it wasn't restored under another name. From Database Management click New then Browse Databases. Do you see any databases listed there that aren't otherwise attached to PT4? If so click on them and click OK and Connect and if those are larger set those as Active/Default and that might do it.

If not easiest might be to just reimport the hands into a new database as I'm not certain where else the data would have gone.

I tried looking for other databases but that's the only one there is.

In that case you said 're-importing the hands into a new dtbs' was the other solution, would you mind elaborating. Can I not simply just try to import the processed folder directly into this database? [via the 'get hands from disk' option]. Why do I need to create a new database again?

Thanks

You could but if you're going to go to all that trouble why not create a new database and get rid of any potential complications? It'll take just as long if the hands really have to import.
