PT3 vs. HEM

Postby Silversag » Thu Jan 27, 2011 12:11 am

I hope I am not breaking any rules here :D Just wanted to share my experiences:

For some time I have questioned my decision to use Poker Tracker instead of Holdem Manager, because quite often you can hear opinions that HEM is better than PT3. Lately I was having problems with my game, so I was thinking about buying HEM, so I can also buy its addon - Leak Buster. I was hoping it will help me to sort out my game.

So two days ago I installed the trial version of HEM and Leak Buster to see what the fuss is all about.

I was in for a surprise  First of all I was really shocked how unfinished HEM felt. It looked like a software some undergraduate IT student would make for his own use, not a commercial product which claims to be the leader of the market  I mean in some places text doesn't fit the buttons!!! You can make better looking programms with Windows built-in Visual Basic ffs! And they are selling this for 90$ !? Embarrassing...

I have never been a huge fan of PT's "a la Windows XP" looks (silver is a bit too boring for me ;) ), but only now I've come to appreciate how sleek, polished and top quality PT3 looks, feels and operates. It is supposed to be my tool of the trade and I always like my tools to be of high quality :)

To be fair, HEM seems to have some functional advantages ( I liked the way relevant full info popped up on mouseover. for example, if you mouseover 3bet value on HUD, then you get full info about 3bets), but definitely not enough to persuade me to spend money for them. Especcially when those popups look... well, I am sure that you DO know very well how they look :D

So, the bottom line is:

Thank you guys for a quality work! Keep it up and I wish you more paying and satisfied customers!

best regards,

Well said.

PT3 is not perfect, far from it, and I hope they listen to their customers during future developments; after all, some of us actually have some intelligence. No matter what PT3's faults are, it is far ahead of HEM in the key areas of accuracy and usability and when you're talking about databases not much else matters.

How do you get support? I've had tickets in there for 7 hours without reply.

We endeavor to have all tickets responded to within 24 hours at the maximum but you should receive a response much more quickly than that. If you'll tell me your ticket number, I'll take a look for you.

Thanks. I'm still having problem. I followed the suggestion and actually did as suggested 4 times but each time I try to start from shortcut all I get is a PokerTracker logo in the middle of screen.

Then please end the processes and start PT3 using the Logging Enabled link on your Start Menu and give PT3 2 or 3 full minutes to attempt to start. If it doesn't complete, please attach the C:\Program Files\PokerTracker 3\PokerTracker.log file to that ticket and it will help us figure out what's keeping things from getting going for you.

I tried it from the start menu also. Didn't work. Sent files about 2 hours ago but don't know if they are the right ones. Waiting for a reply. I see that pokertracker 2 is still on my computer.
