How to apply a general filter to a report?

Postby Dan_Jazz_Man » Sun Jan 11, 2009 10:16 am

I mean, I can do it in a report configuration, but if I want to run a report against different stakes for example, I end up having
to re-configure the report, because applying a stake filter from a Filter tab doesn't affect the report at all. Moreover, why do I
have to save the report after any change in its configuration before I'm able to run it? If I didn't have to save every time, then it's fine,
I could set the stakes in the report configuration, but as it is now, it takes additional time to save the report and I also have to check
the configuration when I come back to the report some other day.

The normal filters button should affect the Reports tab - it's working fine for me.
What exactly is the problem?
I think that the mechanics of how reports are saved and run will be tweaked a little at some point.

I have a "pocket pair hit flop" report. The thing is, applying a general stakes filter doesn't affect the report, I get the results
for all stakes.

Hmm - I have the 'hit flop with pair' report and appying a normal 'limit' filter works. Are you actually checking the checkbox, not just highlighting the level text? When you click OK, do you see the limit shown on the top right of the report?

First, this is not the report from the repository, but one I've made myself.
I do see the limit shown on the top right of the report, but only if I use the simple filters
from the report configuration, and in that case the filter does affect the report. Now, applying
a general filter ("Filter" button in the PT itself, not the "Simple Filter" in the report configuration)
doesn't affect the report, and it shows "Report Default Filter Saw Flop" on the top right of the report.

You're using Beta 23, aren't you?

Please create a support ticket and attach a log file showing you using your report and applying a general filter (which doens't work).
Please export and attach your report too - zip it with the log file.
Make sure you link to this thread in your ticket.
Thanks.

I've found out that I DON'T have to save the report every time I make any changes to be able to run it and see the changes. So I re-configure the report, click Run, the pop-up warning about saving the report comes up, I click No, and the report is run with the new configuration! This actually renders the pop-up completely useless, since if I try to go to some other report, another pop-up comes up, offering to save changes in the report I've been working on.

The way that reports are managed in this kind of situation will be getting tidied up at some point so these issues will be addressed then. You have a ticket about this, don't you? Please add this info to your ticket as well (if you didn't already) and the developers will see your comments when they get round to making the changes.
Thanks.
