All my Hands are gone

Postby rdarko » Sun Oct 25, 2009 10:33 pm

I'm using PTv2.17.04g.

I was running the one step compact as I have many times before and there was some sort of error message saying that the database couldn't be compacted at this time probably because a program like PA HUD is open. I've gotten this message a couple of times before except this time PA HUD wasn't open.

Then I go to open up ring game player statistics and get an error: access violation message. I looked through the forum here and saw a thread where it was suggested to repair the database. I tried that and after 1 failed attempt where a message said that the file was in use and it couldnt' be accessed it said it was repaired successfully and now all my hand histories are gone. If I click on ring game or tournament statistics the window opens but there are no hands.

I loaded up a table to see if everything was working and it appears that new hands are importing fine but all of my old hands are totally gone. I fear that I may have erased my old database when attempting to repair it.

Any help is appreciated.

Restart the computer. Go to the c:\program files\poker tracker v2 folder and rename the file called ptrack.mdb to ptrack_bad.mdb. Then rename the ptrack_backup.mdb file to ptrack.mdb and try it again.

If you get the error about not being able to compact in PT again because something else is running you can do this outside of PT by...

With PT closed...

1. Go to the Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > ODBC Data Sources window.

2. On the window that opens, click the System DSN tab.

3. Click on the entry PTRACK and click the "Configure..." button.

4. Click the "Repair..." button on the next window.

5. On the next window that pops up, ptrack.mdb should be highlighted but if it's not, select it and click ok.

NOTE: The repair function does basically the same thing as the compact.
