HUD not working. party communicator.pt4 trogan problem.

Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone can help me. My anti virus (mcaffee) is saying that it has detected a trogan and quotes the file 'party communicator.pt4'. Consequently PT4 says that it can't load my zoom HUD.....a slight problem considering I am a zoom reg. Macffee puts the files in quarantine. I have deleted and restored them to no avail. I have reinstalled PT4 which had no results either. Any ideas people?

I'm getting the exact same problem, except that every time I try to run PT to play Zoom, McAfee keeps saying that it's quarantined the 'Artemis!5425795C71A3' Trojan. Hands are still importing, but HUDs aren't showing. I too tried downloading PT again, as per the error message, but the McAfee quarantine message is popping up during the download as well.

Assumed PT would think it was on my end, but if it's happening to two of us, then it must have something to do with the combo of McAfee and PT - the only thing is that when I tried turning off my firewall and anti-virus, the HUD still wouldn't work.

Hope someone is able to help is out.

An exciting update!

Was able to get my HUD to show up by:

1. Turning off my McAfee firewall and real-time anti-virus
2. Downloading PT
3. Then running it

Step 1 has to come before step 2. That would seem to mean that McAfee is mis-interpreting that file as a virus? Guess I'll try contacting McAfee and seeing what they say?

Hey guys,

This is happening to me as well.

Interesting that if you shut everything off then it works, but that isn't a good fix, i would think.

My question would be .... why is it happening all of a sudden today??

Did PT4 do any upgrade? or did McPhee do an upgrade?

I just bought PT4 about a month ago and everything was working fine till now. So is it a McPhee problem or a PT4 problem???

Sent a email into PT and hopefully they will get back to us quickly.

Due to the way these "communicator" files have to work they can be misinterpreted as a threat. As long as you downloaded PT4 from this website then you can safely ignore (and tell your security software to ignore) the warning.

alright, alright, alright ... (am more excited than Matthew McConaghey at the academy awards to have this on the verge of being fixed ...)

So as per the instructions listed by following the link (thx Kraada) ...

If something is identified, maybe wrongly as "Artemis" then McAfee already knows about it. Merely send an email to virus_research@mcafee.com with the Artemis detection name and the words "False Artemis!++++++++++++" (where ++++++++++++ is the 12-digit code given to it) as the subject line. (Minus the ""). Also post in the Artemis forum with the Artemis number as the header and put an explanation in the body of the post. That gives you a double chance at getting it dealt with quickly.


... I sent two emails, and made two posts in the 'Artemis' thread over at McAfee for the two 'trojans' that were coming up for me - here's the link to the posts over at McAfee:

They said it can take up to 5 days to clear, but hopefully it won't be that long. Last weekend of the month for grinding - guess there's still the Windows firewall, if the McAfee one is turned off, but yeah that's not ideal, so hopefully it gets fixed soon.
