PokerStars Rake Method and PT4

Postby ethanrox » Wed Dec 28, 2022 7:37 pm

Does PokerStars calculate rake for their rewards in the same way the "Rake Contributed" stat is calculated in PT4?

I found some discrepancies...also not matching the Rake Attributed stat.

Is this mismatch normal / has anybody an idea of what causes it?

Contributed rake is calculated the same but I don't know the specifics of how that is converted into your personal rewards on PokerStars given that there are many different PokerStars clients around the world and not every player will have the same rewards level on a given client.

Attributed rake is the rake removed from pots you won but it isn't used by poker sites to calculate any rakeback/rewards. This statistic is typically used to calculate what your winnings/winrate would be without rake.

I am not aware of any issue with these statistics and rake values are explicitly stated in PokerStars hand histories so please send specific information detailing what you are seeing along with your calculations to us in a Support Ticket:

I am playing on the International version, so I don't think there are some hidden specifics.
The Rake Contributed stat is consistently 1-1.5% higher than the points I am awarded (which are simple 100 points per $1 rake).
Was wondering if anybody has an idea of how exactly pokerstars are doing their rake contributed method.

Contributed rake in PokerTracker 4 is the total amount of money removed from the pot divided proportionately by the amount of money the player contributed to the pot (to two decimal places). Some of what you are seeing may be due to rounding but I don't know the specifics of what happens behind the scenes on PokerStars with regards to their specific calculations.

Yeah, nobody seems to know on their Discord as well (as long as the web as far as googling goes).
It's not the biggest discrepancy but still makes me wonder what's going on. According to support from Discord it's not based on folding preflop on the blinds...which would make the most sense.

From discord support again:

"yes the rake can be higher when a German player wins the pot (https://www.pokerstars.com/poker/learn/ ... n-germany/). Let's say a German player wins a pot and pays additional rake, the German player earns points based on that rake (normal and extra rake) but any non-German players in the hand do not earn points based on the extra rake (it is only paid by the German player)."

I guess this additional rake gets recorded in the HH which PT4 imports into the cash_hand_summary.amt_rake field in the database which is one of the building blocks of the Rake Contributed stat.
