Please make sure your firewall or antivirus is not blocking PT4 from connecting to the internet as that can cause the error message you describe.

My bad, just had a quick look on his error alert again and noticed I've got a different one.
There were errors during the download process:
Server stopped responding
Unable to download file to ...\PT4\Data\Bin\StarsCommunicator.pt4.new

Im getting the same error. Ive uninstalled AVG antivirus and disabled the windows firewall and I still get the same error. I am using windows 8 64 bit. I have set PT4 to run as administrator and to run in compatibility with windows 7, is there anything else I should be doing here?

That does suggest that either your connection dropped or something blocked the connection. Does this happen consistently - e.g. if you reboot your computer and try again?

Ya its happened every time Ive opened the program since purchase. I've restarted several times. My internet connection is stable because other programs stay connected while this happens...

Please restart PT4 using the logging enabled link on your Start Menu, reproduce this problem and then report it via our
support system with the log file - that will help us figure out what is going on here and get it fixed for you. You can find that file by clicking File --> Show User Data Folder in the main PT4 window - the file we need is the text file called PokerTracker4 that is in that folder.
