Preferred Seating

PokerTracker 3 version 3.10
October 25, 2013
  • Introduction

Some poker sites allow you to specify which seat you want to sit in, and always rotate the players so that you are shown in the same position.

If you use this option you need to configure PokerTracker 3 to know about your preferred seat for each site and table size. Prefered seating is configured in the  Auto Import tab.

First, select your poker site from the Site List.  Then on the right, click the selected site's Configuration tab.  The configuration tabs for each site with preferred seat settings are shown later in this tutorial.

    Auto Import

Within this tab you need to select your table size and configure your preferred seat, please be aware that if you play at different table sizes you need to do this for each table size. The specific details for each site's seat positioning requirements are shown below).

Note: When you have enabled the preferred seating option, the stats at your table may not move to the correct positions until you have played and imported at least one full hand.
Until this point PokerTracker 3 does not know you are at the table so does not know to use the preferred seat settings.  If you join a table and the view rotates to put you in your preferred seat you should not move the HUD stats to different positions to match where the players have been moved to.

  • Troubleshooting

If you have enabled preferred seating options and imported a played hand but the stats still don't move to the correct positions, the main reasons are these:

    1. PT3 may not have recognized the size of the table correctly.

You can identify this problem by looking at the Texas Holdem -> Sessions tab  in PokerTracker 3 (click 'Refresh') to determine if the session is correctly listed as "6-max", or whatever the correct table size is in your scenario.  If you play at short-handed tables this information is not included in the hand history files for all sites, so you should enable the 'Adjust Qualifying Tables Limits' option on the Auto Import tab. This will enable PokerTracker 3 to attempt to determine what size table you are playing at based on the number of players involved.

    2. If the stats still don't line up correctly, then you should disable preferred seating in both your poker client and PT3 and then play a session on a single table (or observe a table if your site supports observed hands) and position the stats to the correct places for all seats in their 'natural' positions.

When you have the on table stats positioned where you want them to remain, click PT-icon -> Save Layout and then open a new table to check that everything is in the correct places. This procedure will not affect any other tables you currently have open, to verify that the positioning is correct we advise that you open a new table to confirm.  Once the positioning is verified, re-enable preferred seating in both your poker site and PokerTracker 3. Everything should line up correctly once you start playing at new tables.

Note: The "Sit Me Here" option which some sites have, to allow you to choose a separate seat at each table, is NOT supported in PokerTracker 3 because it is not possible to determine where you are at each individual table.

  • Site Configuration
    • 888 (Pacific)

The 888 network allows you to choose your preferred seat at each table size and PokerTracker 3 has matching options.  You must configure your 888 Poker Network software to save hand history files as you play.  In the poker lobby select Settings -> Game Settings from the main menu.

      888 Game Settings

Choose your preferred seat for each table size by clicking on the seat as shown in the screen shot below.  A check will appear to confirm your preference.  The example below shows a preference for seat  #6 at a ten handed table.

      888 Preferred Seating

Seat numbering for the 888 network starts with seat 1 at the top-center of the table (or slightly to the right, depending on layout) and numbers increase clockwise.

      888 Preferred Seating Configuration

NOTE: Because 888 write hand histories while you are seated and waiting for the blinds (i.e. not dealt in) the HUD will appear, but it will not adjust to your preferred seat until you have played one hand and that has been imported. If you reposition the stats while waiting to be dealt in they will be incorrect for other tables - you should position the stats either with preferred seating turned off, or after you have played at least one hand at the table.

    • Cereus Network

The Cereus Network allows you to choose your preferred seat at each table size and PokerTracker 3 has matching options.  You can configure preferred seats individually for Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet so please make sure that you select the correct site.

      Cereus Configuration

9-seat tables start with seat 1 at 1 o'clock, 6-max tables start with seat 1 at 12 o'clock, and seat numbers increase clockwise.

    • IGT Poker Network (Entraction)

A prefered seating option was recently added to the IGT Poker Network, however support for prefered seating is still experimental.  6-Max seating is not supported at this time.  To setup the preferred seating follow the steps below:

      1. From lobby, click Options Preferred Seat

      3. Click your preferred seat and then OK

    • Everest

You will always positioned in the bottom center seat on the Everest Network, therefore PokerTracker 3 will rotate the HUD table groups automatically when using this table view.

    • Everleaf

The Everleaf Network allows you to choose your preferred seat at each table size, PokerTracker 3 has matching options for each available table size on the network.

Skins on the Everleaf network may not have a preferred Seating option, this is an optional setting for each skin.  In the event a preferred seating option is not available, you may choose you preferred seat by rightclicking on a seat as shown below.  PokerTracker only supports one preferred seat on the Everleaf Network, therefore you must manually chose to move to the same seat on all tables to assure that each player's stats are properly lined up at the table.

      Everleaf - Move Here

Seat numbering on the Everleaf Network starts with seat 1 (one) just to the right of the dealer, the seat numbers increase clockwise.

      Everleaf Configuration

NOTE: Because skins on the Everleaf Network write hand histories while you are seated and waiting for the blinds (i.e. not dealt in) the HUD will appear, but it will not adjust to your preferred seat until you have played one hand and that has been imported. If you reposition the stats during this time they will be incorrect for other tables - you should position the stats either with preferred seating turned off, or after you have played at least one hand at the table.
